The Power of Numbers

A giving circle is a way to magnify and focus your individual philanthropy by pooling funds with others and making a collective decision. Each member contributes to the pool and the members decide on the recipient. It's simple. It's effective. It's powerful.

To become a member you commit to:
  • Donate $100 each quarter for one year. ($400 per year.)
  • Donate to the nonprofit selected by the membership at each meeting, even if the selected recipient wasn't your choice or you did not attend the meeting.
  • If you are unable to attend a meeting, you may email your absentee ballot to [email protected]. Don't forget to Donate even if you can't attend.
When you are ready to join, please fill out the membership commitment form at the link below and come to our next meeting.

The basics
  1. Meet. Join us for our quarterly meetings. Each meeting consists of a half hour networking reception followed by a one-hour meeting.
  2. Listen. A member from each of three nominated nonprofits will give a 5-minute presentation about their organization and how our contribution will support their cause.
  3. Vote. Members vote for the nonprofit they would most like to support. The nonprofit that gets the most votes is selected!
  4. Give. Every member gives $100 to the selected nonprofit. Members donate whether or not they attend the meeting.
  5. Learn. Previous recipients of our donations return to share about the impact of our donation.
  6. Repeat. At the end of the meeting we randomly select three eligible nonprofits to present at the next meeting and start the cycle again.

Fast. Simple. Effective. Women working together really can do just about anything!

The details
Members should keep in mind the following details:
  • As a member, you commit to donating $100 quarterly, even if you cannot attend the meeting. This is a commitment of $400 per year.
  • We encourage you to bring friends to the meetings. Only members can vote, but everyone is welcome to attend. 
  • The members vote by secret ballot using a plurality voting method; the nonprofit that receives the most votes will receive our group donation. All members donate $100 to the selected group, even if you disagree with the choice.
  • Donations are collected using a donor advised fund at the Yolo Community Foundation / Sacramento Region Community Foundation. Please make your $100 donations quarterly in February, May, August, and November. Go to our Donate page to learn more.
  • Please do not send a check directly to the recipient. The goal of 100+ Women Who Care Yolo County is to make a significant donation on behalf of the whole group. We collect all donations so that we can make one BIG donation to our recipient.
  • If you do not donate to each quarter's recipient, your membership may be at risk.
  • Your donation is tax deductible. The Sacramento Region Community Foundation will send an email receipt immediately after each online donation for tax purposes. Look for an email from [email protected] with the subject "Donation tax receipt”; we encourage you to add this email address to your address book to avoid it going to a spam folder.
  • We collect your personal information (including your name, address, email address and telephone number) strictly for the purpose of maintaining our membership list. We promise not to sell, give or otherwise share your personal information without your express consent. We are using Google Drive, MailChimp, and Zapier to facilitate communications. Please visit their websites if you have questions about their privacy policies. We do recognize our members via social media and other venues. If you are uncomfortable with that kind of attention, please let us know when you join.
  • All nonprofit organizations under consideration agree not to create, sell, or distribute a list with our members’ contact information, or to solicit our members directly for further contributions.
