History of 100 Who Care
Giving circles are an old idea that is gaining popularity. The 100 Who Care movement was started by Karen Dunigan, in 2006 in Jackson, Michigan. Now there are more than 350 actively operating chapters in the world encompassing women's groups, men's group, groups inclusive of both men and women, and kids groups. There is no central "100 who care" group, but the 100 who care alliance was formed as an organized way for chapter leaders to be in community with one another and to share ideas and best practices with one another, as we all address similar issues and challenges within our groups. More information is available at http://100whocarealliance.org/
Our Yolo group was started by a group of women who wanted to increase their personal philanthropy and make a positive impact on Yolo county. Two of us were members of the Sacramento group (http://100wwcsacvalley.org/) but felt the call to work more locally. Together with the other members of the founding steering committee we are working to launch a group based in Davis but with a focus on all of Yolo County to help our local community.
100+ Women Who Care Yolo County is not a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. We are a group of women who work together to make a difference. Your donation is tax deductible because you donate directly to the selected recipients.
