We have three great groups this quarter:
- Davis Arts Center. Davis Arts Center is a gathering place for dynamic engagement with the arts. Through multidisciplinary classes and programs for the regional community, the Arts Center inspires creative expression in people of all ages and fosters an environment for the arts to flourish.
- Summer House Inc. Summer House provides lifetime support to 75 people with developmental disabilities in Yolo Country through housing and programs that respect their dignity and enhance their self-reliance and self-confidence.
- Yolo Conflict Resolution Center. YCRC helps individuals and communities resolve conflicts, address interpersonal harms, and restore relationships through restorative justice and mediation services

Davis Arts Center
The heart of Davis Arts Center’s mission is to provide arts experiences to inspire creative expression in all ages. The skills learned while making art give a foundation for a creative practice that sustains and brings joy when times are difficult.
For 60 years, Davis Arts Center has been a leader in providing art education to our community. Because of DAC, over a hundred thousand people have taken a class or had an art experience that gave them the skill set and confidence to turn to art right now.
Art makes life more meaningful, builds community, gives a place for self-expression and keeps us going in both difficult and joyful times. Artists are second responders in time of trauma and crisis.
Despite being physically closed, we have been finding ways to bring art to our community, weekly arts emails with ideas for art and interesting art topics, take away art kits for both virtual summer camps and in partnership with National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI Yolo) and an outdoor farmers market style Fall Art Fair on November 1.
If selected, we would fund art kits in a few high need areas: Yolo Crisis Nursery and youth in Foster Care in Yolo County. The art kits include individual supplies, written project plans and videos. Both organizations have reached out and are excited about the possibility of receiving art kits; your donations would make the kits possible. Davis Arts Center’s staff uses both a trauma informed and race equity lens to choose the projects in the kits. Your support would give youth access to art. We know the need in our nonprofit community is great right now and we respectfully ask for your vote to fund this project.
Thank you.
Stay creative, healthy and safe,

Summer House Inc.
Summer House Inc. supports adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in residential settings to help them live as independently as possible in their own homes.
I know that many people like to have a specific project or item to donate to, but honestly the list of things this donation could provide is so very long. Our reimbursement rates cover our payroll and general expenses and not much more than that. Let me dream a little about what we could do with a large donation!
PPE for our staff and clients.
Since early March our residents have been isolated to their homes due to Covid 19. Prior to the pandemic clients attended day/work programs. Our staff are wonderful at interacting with our residents and creating interesting and stimulating things to do, but we receive no funding for extra supplies. Educational supplies; books, music, puzzles and arts/craft supplies for all to use would be such a gift.
Secondary diagnosis’ of anxiety or depression have increased with isolation. The purchase sensory items; therapy putty, stress balls, sound machines, games etc... would help ease stress.
Limited contact with friends and family, requires communication through Facetime or Zoom. Our residents are feeling lonely and isolated. Tablets or laptops, for people to spend more time seeing and talking to their loved ones would brighten their days.
Replace the deck of the Woodland house: Using Trexx material (instead of wood) and building a covered, enclosed porch; adding ceiling fans for warmer months and heaters for cooler months so that the residents could use the backyard to its potential would be amazing.
Replace kitchen countertops and resurface cabinets (outdated by 20+ years).
A professional landscape installation of low maintenance hardscape or Astroturf would make a world of difference to our yards.
Thank you so much for your consideration!
Warm regards,
Julie Kirby

Yolo Conflict Resolution Center
Now more than ever people are looking for viable alternatives to the traditional criminal justice processes. If we are chosen for the funding, we will continue to nurture and expand our partnerships with law enforcement to provide Restorative Justice services as a meaningful way to repair the harms created by crime and wrongdoing. We work very closely right now with youth and their families when youth are finding themselves on a destructive path.
We will also, as needed, provide access to technology to youth, families and other community members for all of our services which are currently being provided in the virtual environment.
We work everyday to increase harmony in our communities through humane conflict resolution and restorative justice services. With the funding, we will provide these trainings to the Community on all of these topics and continue to outreach so that folks know that our services are free and available to them.
Below is just some of the feedback from those that have used our services-
“My experience with the restorative justice process was really helpful and I learned and will make better decisions in the future.”– Youth referred to our Restorative Justice program
“That we can go through the hard stuff and it helped my son and I feel relieved, and we are thankful for that to this program and the whole process.”- Parent that participated in our Restorative Justice program
“Thank you for providing the space for those in conflict to see the good in each other. You are liberating individuals to live life to its fullest without harboring negative energy. You are giving them the tools to work through their troubles. What an amazing service.”- Mediation client
“I am really impressed. Way more informative, useful and fun than I ever anticipated.”- Conflict Resolution 101 Training Participant
