Add Charities to Our Charity Pool

We strive to help our local community by supporting groups whose primary purpose is charitable service to the community. Our hope is to reach the causes with the greatest need and make an impactful, positive change by pooling our resources.

Please review the eligibility requirements below and send a Nonprofit Qualification form to a deserving organization.

Eligibility Requirements

To be a potential recipient, an organization must meet all of the following criteria:
  • Recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. In general, no schools, booster clubs, or religious organizations (i.e. churches, synagogues, mosques). However, exceptions for programs of these organizations will be considered by the Steering Committee on a case-by-case basis.
  • In operation for at least three years as of the date of nomination.
  • Spend 100% of our contribution for the benefit of Yolo County.

In addition, all potential recipients must agree to:
  • Not create, sell or distribute a list with any of our members’ contact info or solicit members for additional contributions, unless an individual member opts-in directly.
  • Provide individual thank you notes directly to members.
  • Send a representative to the meeting to talk with members and make a 5-minute presentation. If the organization is unable to send a representative to the meeting, the organization will go back in the potential recipient pool and another potential recipient will be randomly chosen and invited to that meeting.
  • If selected, send a representative to a subsequent meeting to make another 5-minute presentation on the impact of the contribution and provide a short summary and representative photos of the funded work for our website and social media.

Nomination Process

  • Any member in good standing may nominate a potential recipient. This is a diverse, inclusive group of women. We ask that you keep this in mind when nominating potential recipients and look to nominate organizations with broad appeal.
  • Each nonprofit can only be added to the potential recipient pool once. Nonprofits with multiple programs cannot be nominated for each program separately. Each nonprofit only needs one nomination to be added to the charity pool. Multiple nominations will not increase entries.
  • Local nonprofits may contact the steering committee to request to be nominated.
  • Nominations are subject to steering committee approval. To nominate an organization, members can contact their organization of choice and provide the organization the link to our Nonprofit Qualification Form. Once the organization has completed the form, the Steering Commitee will determing eligibility. Organizations that meet the eligibility criteria and a Nonprofit Qualification Form on file will be added to our potential recipient pool.
  • The steering committee may institute a process in the future to update the potential recipients list to make sure it is current and reflects the interests of our membership.

Selection Process

  • The three organizations for each meeting are drawn at random from the potential recipient pool.
  • Organizations will be asked to present in the order drawn.
  • Each of the three nominated organizations will have five minutes to present to the members. Presentations will be followed by a brief question and answer period.
  • All potential recipients must have a Nonprofit Qualification Form on file.
  • The recipient is selected by a plurality voting system; the organization that receives the most votes will receive the group donation. In the event of a tie, there will be one run-off vote. If still tied, the recipient will be randomly selected by a coin toss.
  • The two organizations that are not selected cannot be selected for the next meeting but are eligible for subsequent meetings.
  • The selected organization is not eligible for another award for 24 months. After that time the organization can be re-nominated to go back on the potential recipients list.

Our Recipients

  • Yolo County CASA. (November 2016) CASA volunteers advocate for abused and neglected children in the foster system to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are met. (November 9, 2016)
  • Camp Kesem. (February 2017 and November 2019) Camp Kesem's mission is to support children through and beyond their parent's cancer with innovative, fun-filled programs that foster a lasting community.
  • RISE Incorporated. (May 2017) RISE Incorporated is a non-profit benefit corporation serving the rural community to enhance the quality of life and opportunity for self-sufficiency.
  • Yolo Family Service Agency. (August 2017) Yolo Family Service Agency provides professional counseling in both English and Spanish for children, families, couples, and individuals coping with issues such as marital difficulties, parent/child conflict, depression, anxiety, the effects of trauma and abuse, custody and divorce, and grief and loss.
  • Progress Ranch, Inc. (November 2017) Progress Ranch, Inc. strives for the following outcomes for our boys: Health and well-being; Confidence and social skills; An optimistic and hopeful outlook; and a capacity for meaningful relationships. We work to achieve these outcomes by providing a nurturing home environment, being involved in a supportive community, emphasizing education, offering individual and family therapy.
  • Meals on Wheels Yolo County. (February 2018) Meals on Wheels Yolo County's mission is to nourish and enrich the lives of individuals in Yolo County with emphasis on those age 60 and older, by providing nutritious meals to active and home bound people; thereby, promoting their health, well-being and independence.
  • Yolo Basin Foundation (May 2018) Yolo Basin Foundation is dedicated to the appreciation and stewardship of wetlands and wildlife in the Yolo Bypass through education and innovative partnerships.
  • Yolo Hospice (August 2018) Yolo Hospice's mission is to serve our communities, providing the highest level of care for every patient, every family, every time.
  • Empower Yolo. (November 2018) Empower Yolo provides twenty-four hour crisis intervention, emergency shelter, confidential counseling, training, legal assistance, and other services for individuals and families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, and child abuse. Their mission is promoting, safe, healthy, and resilient communities.
  • Davis Community Meals and Housing. (February 2019) The purpose of Davis Community Meals is to provide low-income and homeless individuals and families with housing, food, and human services to help them rebuild their lives.
  • Yolo Community Care Continuum (May 2019) Yolo Community Care Continuum's mission is to better the lives of people with mental illness through direct services, advocacy, education and volunteer efforts.
  • Yolo Crisis Nursery, Inc. (August 2019)  Yolo Crisis Nursery provides early intervention services that nurture healthy and resilient children, strengthen parents and preserve families.

  • Short Term Emergency Aid Committee (February 2020) Short Term Emergency Aid Committee is a community organization that provides short term assistance, filling and important gap in coverage.
  • Planned Parenthood Mar Monte Inc. (May 2020) Planned Parenthood Mar Monte's mission is to ensure that every individual has the knowledge, opportunity and freedom to make every child a wanted child and every family a healthy family.
  • Yolo Food Bank (August 2020) Yolo Food Bank's mission is to end hunger and malnutrition in Yolo County. Their goals are: to identify and respond to hunger needs; improve the health and well-being of food insecure residents by offering nutritious foods, including fresh produce and incorporating nutrition education into their programs; partner and collaborate with other agencies in the community to reach diverse populations in need; assure food safety; be a dependable provider; be efficient, cost effective and fiscally responsible; respect and honor all people.
