Progress Ranch
Project Request
The saying, “the kitchen is the heart of a home,” is also true in the homes where we raise children at Progress Ranch. Children prepare meals with Youth Counselors (one of their favorite life skills activities) and spend time together around the countertop sharing snacks and chatting. The kitchen is a central place where children build authentic connections and practice the skills they will use when they live with a family.
Our kitchen is worn out from years of use by hundreds of children and Counselors. Funding from 100 Women of Yolo County would replace countertops beyond repair, install cupboards that close properly, and update damaged flooring. This is a project with lasting impact that will create a more welcoming “heart” for our home and benefit many, many children for years to come!

Thriving Pink
“Cancer is a tough journey, fraught with fear, uncertainty, discomfort and anxiety….The cancer experience does not end with the surgery, the chemo, the radiation, and other treatments. The after effects can be daunting, and [Thriving Pink] helped me get through the experience from start to finish and beyond.”
Thriving Pink is a nonprofit organization supporting individuals and families in Yolo County impacted by breast cancer. Our no cost programs, planned with breast cancer survivors and other volunteers, focus on educating, empowering and providing support from the initial time of a breast cancer diagnosis, throughout survivorship. We provide financial grants, educational workshops, support groups, peer mentorship, retreats, and fellowship. We also provide community-wide outreach and education on breast cancer, early detection and prevention. Through our new program ProspeROSA, we offer materials, mentors, and targeted programs for Spanish speaking communities.
With 1 in 8 women diagnosed over the course of their lifetime, and over 3.8 million individuals in the U.S living with breast cancer, we are all impacted by this disease and there is a tremendous need for local community support. Post-COVID, needs have grown due to delays in screening and diagnosis and increases in financial insecurity and social isolation. Having opened an office and community room in late 2022, we now have the opportunity to expand our impact and, with support from 100 Women Who Care, we can address these two most critical needs:

- New professionally facilitated in-person programs housed in our community room, such as a metastatic support group, mother & daughter health education, young thrivers support group and wellbeing program.
- Expansion of our annual Renewal Retreat for thrivers one year post diagnosis to connect with peers, reconnect with their bodies, and re-engage with their hearts in a supportive, confidential, and caring environment.

Cancer Champions
Cancer Champions (CC) was founded in 2015 by Davis resident and fitness expert Jen Miramontes, after losing her mother, father, and best friend to cancer. While walking alongside family and friends in treatment, Jen witnessed the impacts of a cancer diagnosis on patients’ physical and emotional wellness.
Jen observed newly diagnosed patients receive general directives from oncologists to eat right, exercise, and take care of themselves. However, most patients didn’t know how to follow that direction, nor where to find help.
To address this unmet need, Jen created the nonprofit Cancer Champions – a virtual community that provides fitness, nutrition, and mindset tools specifically designed for cancer patients and survivors. CC empowers patients during treatment and beyond by offering accessible resources – through a website and a mobile app -- including:
The most common response Jen and the CC team hear from participants is, “Cancer Champions quite literally gave me my life back.”
Thanks to donations, most CC memberships are offered to patients free of charge. With your help, we can offer many, many more memberships to patients in need this year.
