The I AM ABLE Helpline provides assistance including rehabilitation support services, vocational training and coaching, internships and employment placement.
We piloted this program and within 3 months, we’ve assisted 300+ people. That’s with minimal promotion focused in the Greater Sacramento area.

Wishes for Kids Facing Cancer
Every day, 43 families in the U.S. receive devasting news: a child in the family has been diagnosed with cancer. Right now in Yolo County, more than half of our wish families are battling cancer. Cancer upends childhood, bringing months – even years – of fear and stress into the life of a child and their family. The child – now a patient – faces something many don’t ever in a lifetime: a battle against a critical illness. Parents feel helpless as they navigate hospital stays, disrupted routines and financial struggles. At Make-A-Wish, we believe that the hope, strength, and joy offered by a wish is vital to the cancer treatment process – and it can give a child an edge in their fight. In fact, research shows that a wish can help improve a child’s quality of life, giving them a better chance of recovering. For nearly 40 years, our Make-A-Wish chapter has granted thousands of wishes to children battling critical illnesses. Our staff and more than 350 volunteers work alongside medical professionals and the child’s community to create life-changing wish experiences. With your support this year, we can reach children with cancer at an unprecedented rate – bringing essential hope to families in Yolo County. Together, we will create hope for children with cancer. If selected as the beneficiary, your funds will help bring the wish journey to children facing cancer and their communities of caregivers, family and friends in Yolo County. With your investment, you will bring children the experiences of childhood that they deserve and support an often key component to better health outcomes – today and tomorrow. YOUR GIFT WILL SUPPORT:

Yolo Interfaith Immigration Network
From its inception in 2008, Yolo Interfaith Immigration Network (YIIN) has had as its sole focus serving and advocating for our immigrant and migrant neighbors. In addition to supporting migrant center programs, we buy grocer gift cards for the AB540 Center at UC Davis (resource centers for undocumented students) and for Woodland Community College Food Pantry. The $495 renewal fee for DACA applications is a barrier for many and thus far YIIN has paid many of those fees. YIIN continues to raise funds to cover those needs. We also sponsor educational programs to the general population regarding immigrant issues with the understanding that misinformation abounds, and we attempt to educate more accurately an appreciation of the causes, plights and circumstances that led many folks to travel great distances to come to this country. For over 11 years, YIIN volunteers visited weekly with youth detained at the Yolo County Juvenile Detention Facility that contracted with US Department of Homeland Security to house undocumented youth.
Yolo Interfaith Immigration Network (YIIN) seeks to advocate in service to our county’s immigrants through the provision of financial, navigational, nutritional, legal, educational, and social support. Recognizing the global structures that inform immigration and experiences of our county’s immigrants, we believe in both local development and big-picture strategy when it comes to meeting our organization’s mission. This ranges from the provision of food gift cards and rental support to immigrant families impacted by the pandemic to regular meetings with US House Representative John Garamendi to ensure the needs of our immigrant community members that can be more effectively met. Our advocacy has led to hundreds of thousands of dollars in support for USCIS filing fees and basic needs, expenses and more.
Moreover, we hope to be able to continue our summer programs at the two migrant centers in Yolo County. In particular the DIAS program for children and youth (ages 7-15) requires funding for staff, materials, and field trips. We continue to seek contributions from community groups and individuals to meet all the costs of running such programs in the future.
